Annual General Meetings
The 2023 AGM took place on Monday 27 March at The Dutch Club in Frenchs Forest – a big thank you to the approximately 70 members who attended. We were delighted to welcome Sydney u3a President, Jennifer Waldron, who chaired the meeting and later outlined the way forward for the upcoming year.
Prior to reporting on activities that have taken place over the last year, Secretary Olivia Kesby acknowledged ex-President Rosemary McCulloch’s tremendous contribution to the region over ten years. The report on 2022 activities was followed by the Treasurer’s report, presented by David Tuckerman.
The outgoing committee was thanked for their work during 2022 and the new committee welcomed on board.
Thank you to Ian Thompson for looking after the Returning Officer duties. The big news of the day was, of course, the election of a new President, Kerrie Sanders.
Congratulations Kerrie, and we wish you well as you take over this big role.
At the end of the formalities Brenda Fuller was awarded Honorary Life Membership by the President for her considerable contribution to Northern Beaches u3a.
‘Only optimism can help with climate change’ was the title of Peter Nixon’s address.
Peter cited many initiatives around the world where organisations and individuals are taking positive action to help combat the effects of climate change.
At the end of Peter’s talk there was definitely an air of optimism in the room!
Thank you, Peter, for your very interesting and thought provoking talk.
