Sydney U3A

COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) and Sydney U3A

Sydney U3A has considered the effect that the spread of the COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) may have on members and on Sydney U3A’s courses, talks, and events. We have also considered the restrictions on meetings imposed by state and federal governments.

Therefore all face to face courses, talks, and events starting from Wednesday March 18, 2020 have been cancelled. It is hoped that face to face meetings will be able to recommence from the first week of September. This is of course dependent on Health Department and Council recommendations and members will have to observe social distancing guidelines.

Membership will be extended by the period of the shutdown.

Central Office is currently closed until further notice.
Although our office is closed the phone (02 9267 9056) is being answered remotely by our Office Manager, Lynda Cronshaw.

Online courses !

From March 18, committees of all seven regions have worked diligently to ensure that, despite the current unprecedented situation, Sydney U3A members can still be engaged in lifelong learning activities via online technologies such as Zoom and email.

Currently we are providing more than 120 sessions using such online technologies, across several of our regions.

Some of those courses are continuing courses that are already full. If you wish to read your region’s newsletters or see what courses are available and how to join them, please go to your region’s website by clicking on its name in this list:

If you are not already a member of U3A, please click on the large blue “Membership” button on this page and join the U3A family. You can then participate in the online courses that are available.  Once restrictions are lifted, you will be most welcome to come along to any of the many talks held in venues across Sydney.

The Third Age

Sydney University of the Third Age (Sydney U3A) offers hundreds of intellectually stimulating courses throughout Sydney.

Sydney U3A courses are a wonderful way to acquire new knowledge and skills in an informal, friendly atmosphere. There are no prerequisites, and no exams.

Whatever your interests, there is a course for you

Languages, literature, drama, poetry, music, theatre, ethics, history, geography, travel, writing, current affairs, personal development, philosophy, science and technology, and computers are just some of our courses.

Other activities include singing groups, learning to play music, yoga, tai chi, bushwalks, bird watching, card games, and restaurant visits.

A Course Book with details of all our courses and activities is posted to members twice a year. The Course Book is also available online.

Sydney U3A has seven regions. U3A members can attend courses in any region, not just their local region. Bookings are essential: the booking details for each course are in the Course Book.
